Networks' fight with Dish over ad-skipping has huge implications

The major broadcast networks’ legal skirmish with satellite television service Dish Network over its new ad-skipping device is shaping up to be a titanic struggle with enormous implications.

  1. When I came into work a few weeks ago at Dish, I found out from a co-worker that the Auto Hop feature was added to the Hopper. I’ve always wanted a feature like the Auto Hop on my DVR, and I’m glad Dish is giving its customers the technology that they want. When Dish introduced Auto Hop, it was a huge hit with its customers, because customers like to have the choice to watch commercials or not. I’m just like everyone else who doesn’t like to watch commercials either and I don’t understand why a company like DirecTV would sit on technology that consumers would obviously use.
